William Carey, Principal
I have been a principal at Rainworth State School since 2008. In my 20 years (approximately) as a school or educational administration, I have been actively involved in the task of teaching students.
I started my career as an Early Years Teacher and have since taught all year levels including various multi age groupings. I am passionate about the inclusion of technology as a tool for learning into classroom practice, developing creativity, student extension and student achievement.
Earlier in my career I spent some time working between State Education, the Catholic Education Commission and the Queensland Independent Schools Association as the manager of a regional education program. This opportunity gave me great insight into the operation of various schooling sectors and education practice.
Rainworth State School offers a richness to its students through the range of curriculum programs, focus on creativity and its strongly engaged community. I look forward to working with you over the years you are associated with our school.
Stephen Stocker, Deputy Principal
Rainworth State School is fortunate to have a deputy principal to assist in the administration of the school.
Stephen Stocker is a respected teacher with many years of classroom experience and a strong background in the areas of mathematics and technology: he has served as the mathematics adviser and regional coordinator for mathematics (Brisbane Metropolitan East education district) and as technology adviser (Stafford/Geebung education district).Since coming to Rainworth in 2000, Stephen has been active in the curriculum areas of technology, mathematics, science, SOSE, PE and sport. Stephen also assists teachers with planning at the beginning of term, and takes classes to allow time for teachers to plan and prepare their classes. The school community is particularly grateful for Stephen's efforts in organising all of the school's sporting events, for the support he gives to the students and for his achievements in developing the school's learning technology.
School staff
Rainworth State School owes much of its success to its dedicated and hardworking staff. These include 17 classroom teachers (13 full-time, 4 permanent part-time), specialist music, LOTE and PE teachers, a teacher-librarian, a learning-support teacher, four teacher-aides and an efficient administrative and grounds staff. Visiting staff include drama and dance teachers, a guidance officer and a speech/language therapist.
