Accident policy
In case of accident, we will contact parents (or emergency contacts).
If the injuries appear serious and parents cannot be contacted quickly, the school will call an ambulance and take the child to hospital. A member of the school's staff will stay with the child until a parent arrives at hospital.
Health services The Department of Health dental unit visits the school about every two years. Parents will be told of an upcoming visit and asked to sign a permission form.
A school nurse visits annually and checks children's hearing, eyesight, posture, etc. All Year 1 students are tested. Children in other year levels are checked only if parents request it.
Head lice Head lice are a problem in all schools. To help control them, parents should:
We encourage all children with long hair to wear their hair tied up or plaited. Please contact the office for further details or click here for an information sheet and here for treating and controlling head lice.
Illness at school We will contact the parents of a sick child so that the child can be taken home. In emergencies, we may call an ambulance or the child's family doctor.
Parents should tell the school if their child suffers from any serious allergy or physical limitation or disability, either temporary and permanent.
Infectious diseases
Parents must tell the school at once if their child has an infectious disease such as:
