Did you know...
The average sunscreen is only effective for 2 hours (max.)
So if you apply it to the kids as they leave for school – there’s a good chance they will NOT be protected by the time they go swimming!
With some of our swim classes held in the hottest part of the day, it is important your child’s skin is protected. The school is encouraging all students to wear sunshirts over togs, and to BYO sunscreen, so the kids can reapply just before starting their swimming lessons.
Small roll-on tubes are available at most supermarkets and chemists – look for SPF 30+ and WATERPROOF.
So get the children to throw sunscreen in their bags – and encourage them to slip on their sunshirts for swimming, slop on the sunscreen (at recess), slap on their hats to and from school, and slide on their sunglasses to protect their eyes!
