Curriculum:Art

As an essential part of a comprehensive, balanced primary school curriculum, visual arts programs present opportunities for children to realise their full potential.
Such programs provide a means of expression for intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual needs, thereby providing a unique means of communication.
A Visual Arts program should develop students’ aesthetic sensitivities, thus fine-tuning their abilities to make choices and judgements in life, thereby allowing them to make quality contributions to their environment, to their own lifestyle and to their personal state of being. Learners will therefore need to experience a visual arts program that responds to their individual and collective capabilities and needs for aesthetic development and development in critical literacy.
Art education provides opportunities for people to participate in their cultural heritage, to build self confidence by better understanding themselves, their own and other cultures, the natural world and created environments.
The Rainworth Visual Arts Program will reflect the strong community interest in art and the high value placed on art by the parents of our students. A quality Visual Arts Program provides enrichment for all, and outlets for the particularly gifted amongst our children.
