Parents and Citizens Association

The Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is an integral part of Rainworth State School. The P&C works in partnership with the school administration and teaching staff, providing support and a range of services for the betterment of the school. The P & C also encourages community spirit and support through the organization of many social and fundraising events. These well-attended events are great fun and a good way to meet other parents and children. Our major annual event is the Rainbow Carnival, held on the last Sunday of August at Norman Buchan Park. This gala affair has become a well known and anticipated annual community event for young and old. (see Rainbow Carnival)
The association meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the school (in the Multi-Purpose room). Meetings start at 7.30 pm.

Coming to P&C meetings is one way of finding out what is happening at the school and of having your opinion heard. The P&C forms sub-commitees to deal with many issues, services and activities (see Working Together). These groups report to the school community via the school newsletter and at P&C meetings.
The P&C executive is made up of the president, vice-president roles, secretary and treasurer. These positions are elected annually at the March AGM (see Who We Are).
All parents and community members are welcome to attend these meetings and join the association.
School Management Committee The School Management Committee meets each term and comprises the principal, deputy principal, three teaching staff and the P & C executive. Its purpose is to set the overall direction for the school.
Support for Students Representing Our School
Student representation – the RSS P&C provides or assists in the provision of financial or other resources or services for the benefit of students of the RSS who are representing the school in curriculum, sporting and/or cultural activities. Representation in a school activity is determined by the following parameters:
- Students must have participated in EQ sanctioned events
- Their representation must have been reached through their initial involvement at the school level.
- They must have been chosen for their ability or achievement in the respective area of representation.
Funding support applications are to be made directly to the principal who will determine an applicant’s suitability on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the P&C.
